Conversions

There are times when you might need to convert one unit or measurement to another. Many recipes commonly measure dry contents by weight rather than volume, e.g, using the Metric unit of g or grams instead of the Imperial unit of c or cups.

Imperial to Metric

Converting from Imperial volume to Metric weight with some staple ingredients? Consider the following:

Imperial Metric
1 c. flour weighs... 127 g
1/2 c flour weighs... 63 g
1/4 c flour weighs... 32 g
1 c sugar weighs... 200 g
1 c powdered sugar weighs... 128 g

How to cut a recipe in half

1/2 c 1/4 c
